Singapore’s tanker-planning work focuses on coordination before a vessel reaches berth

Singapore’s Maritime and Port Authority described tanker trials for its Just-In-Time Planning and Coordination Platform alongside digital and operational initiatives. The update shows why information quality can be as important as physical infrastructure in marine logistics.
Planning before arrival
MPA said its Just-In-Time Planning and Coordination Platform had been adopted by more than 150 port users and service providers across several cargo sectors, with tanker trials set to begin by the end of March 2026. The stated aim is to optimise port resources and improve coordination. The authority’s release is not a performance guarantee for individual vessel calls or a description of Dalian North Oil operations.
Data and operating interfaces
The update also refers to real-time visualisation and sharing of operational data in selected pilots, as well as Maritime 5G coverage across major fairways, anchorages, terminals and boarding grounds. In liquid-bulk logistics, information quality can support planning around arrivals, marine services, berth windows and documentation, while the underlying physical constraints still remain.
A bounded interpretation
Digital coordination does not replace cargo compatibility checks, safety procedures or the need for a confirmed operating arrangement. Its value lies in helping relevant parties work from more timely, consistent information. The exact effect of a platform depends on the users, data and process involved.
Why this matters for storage and logistics
A well-prepared enquiry gives operations teams the information they need to coordinate effectively: product, quantity, vessel or receipt method, dates, storage period and onward movement.
